Herbert settled into his favorite armchair, the television remote already in hand. Margot walked in, holding a flyer.

"Herbert, dear, I was thinking we could venture out to that new pottery class at the community center," she said. "It could be a nice change of pace."

Herbert sighed dramatically. "A pottery class? My idea of a venture involves minimal effort and maximum reward. Like finding a twenty in the couch cushions."

Margot rolled her eyes, but a small smile played on her lips. "It's a moderate expenditure, Herbert, and it's something we could do together. Besides, I need to get out of the house."

"But the Dog & Duck is showing the Oakhaven darts championship tonight," Herbert protested. "Besides the expenditure seems unnessecary."

"That's precisely why I'm suggesting this," Margot replied, with a hint of steel in her voice. "Something tells me the darts championship will be there next week. This class, contrary to your belief, is a limited-time thing."

Later that evening, Herbert reluctantly found himself sitting at a pottery wheel, covered in clay. He glared at the spinning lump.

"You know," Margot said, nudging him gently. "It's not so bad, is it? And Mrs. Gable, the instructor, has quite the charm."

Herbert grumbled, attempting to mold the clay. "I still think my charm is better. Just imagine the masterpiece I could create with a good donut!"
