Vocabulary 2 - C1

Herbert was in the living room, trying to fit a new shelf he'd bought from the Corner Shop.[tooltip]Herbert era nel soggiorno, cercando di montare un nuovo scaffale che aveva comprato al Corner Shop.[/tooltip]
Margot walked in, carrying a laundry basket. "Herbert, what's all this racket?" she asked, frowning at the chaotic scene.[tooltip]Margot entrò, portando un cesto di biancheria. "Herbert, cos'è tutto questo baccano?" chiese, aggrottando la fronte alla scena caotica.[/tooltip]
The sound of Herbert hammering was quite loud.[tooltip]Il suono del martello di Herbert era piuttosto forte.[/tooltip]
Herbert sighed dramatically. "This blasted shelf! It?Ts not going in straight. My arm is getting tired."[tooltip]Herbert sospirò drammaticamente. "Questo maledetto scaffale! Non entra dritto. Il mio braccio si sta stancando."[/tooltip]
Margot put down the basket. "Let me see. Did you even read the instructions?"[tooltip]Margot posò il cesto. "Fammi vedere. Hai almeno letto le istruzioni?"[/tooltip]
Herbert waved his hand dismissively. "Instructions are for people who don't have a natural talent for DIY. This is a total disaster."[tooltip]Herbert agitò la mano con fare sprezzante. "Le istruzioni sono per le persone che non hanno un talento naturale per il fai-da-te. Questo è un disastro totale."[/tooltip]
Margot examined the shelf and the wall. "You're trying to put it up upside down, Herbert. And you're using the wrong screws."[tooltip]Margot esaminò lo scaffale e il muro. "Stai cercando di montarlo al contrario, Herbert. E stai usando le viti sbagliate."[/tooltip]
Herbert looked sheepish. "Oh. Well, I thought it looked... different."[tooltip]Herbert sembrava imbarazzato. "Oh. Beh, pensavo che sembrasse... diverso."[/tooltip]
Margot rolled her eyes, but a small smile played on her lips. "It would be fine if you just followed the instructions."[tooltip]Margot alzò gli occhi al cielo, ma un piccolo sorriso le comparve sulle labbra. "Andrebbe tutto bene se solo seguissi le istruzioni."[/tooltip]
Margot took the hammer and screws from him. "Go make yourself a cup of tea, Herbert. I'll sort this out."[tooltip]Margot gli prese il martello e le viti. "Vai a prepararti una tazza di tè, Herbert. Risolverò io questa cosa."[/tooltip]
Herbert didn't need to be told twice. He headed to the kitchen, relieved to escape the DIY project.[tooltip]Herbert non se lo fece ripetere due volte. Si diresse verso la cucina, sollevato di sfuggire al progetto fai-da-te.[/tooltip]
