The Oakhaven summer was hot. The drought was making everyone worried.

Herbert watered his small garden. Margot watched him.

M: "Herbert, you know we're supposed to conserve water? It's unacceptable to waste it."

H: "But the tomatoes, Margot! They need water! I'm getting emotionally attached to them."

M: "Emotionally attached? They're vegetables, Herbert."

Herbert sighed. "I've been watering them extensively. I even built a little cover."

M: "A cover? What kind of cover?"

H: "Well�?� it�?Ts sort of a mini greenhouse. It helps keep the moisture in."

Margot raised an eyebrow. "You built a greenhouse in secret during a drought to water tomatoes excessively?"

H: "It was a small greenhouse! And they're almost ready! Imagine the BLTs!"

Margot shook her head. "Sometimes, Herbert... you are unbelievable."

Later that day, Brian peeked into the "greenhouse".

B: "Dad, is this thing supposed to smell like feet?"

H: "Feet? No! It should smell like�?� hope."

Brian wrinkled his nose. "Hope smells weird."

The next morning, the tomatoes were gone. Squirrels had chewed through Herbert's "greenhouse."
