Margot sighed, watching Herbert meticulously arrange donuts on a plate. "Herbert, must you? You know that's just pure bias towards sprinkles. The plain glazed ones are perfectly good."

Herbert, mouth full of chocolate frosting, mumbled, "But Margot, the sprinkles...they bring joy!"

Laura walked in, carrying a stack of books. "Speaking of joy, I'm doing a presentation on carbon footprints in Oakhaven. It's kind of dramatically awful."

Herbert, oblivious, reached for another donut. "Carbon? Is that like...extra crispy?"

Laura rolled her eyes. "No, Dad! It's about pollution! And honestly, your car is a major contributor."

Herbert chuckled. "Now, now, Laura. It gets me to the Dog & Duck, doesn't it? Besides, worrying about all that stuff is practically terrorism against my relaxation time."

Margot intervened, "Herbert! Don't be ridiculous. Laura's doing important work. And maybe you should be a little more curious about it."

Herbert looked from Margot to Laura, a donut halfway to his mouth. He sighed dramatically, "Fine, fine. Tell me about the carbon...thingy. But only if I can have another donut."

Laura grinned. "Deal. But afterwards, we're checking your tire pressure."
