Vocabulary 106 - B2

Herbert sat in his armchair, remote in hand. Margot entered, carrying a stack of bills.[tooltip]Herbert era seduto sulla sua poltrona, con il telecomando in mano. Margot entrò, portando una pila di bollette.[/tooltip]
Margot sighed. "Herbert, the elderly Mrs. Gable complained again about your hedge trimming. She said it looks like a beaver attacked it."[tooltip]Margot sospirò. Margot placed the bills on the coffee table. "And Mr. Henderson said your loud music disturbed his afternoon nap. I tried to assure him it won't happen again, but..."[tooltip]Margot posò le bollette sul tavolino da caffè. Margot frowned. "That's not the point, Herbert! You need to be more considerate."[tooltip]Margot si accigliò. "Non è questo il punto, Herbert! Devi essere più premuroso."[/tooltip]
Brian walked in, slamming the door. "Dad, can you take me to the skate park?"[tooltip]Brian entrò, sbattendo la porta. "Papà, puoi portarmi allo skate park?"[/tooltip]
Herbert, without looking up, mumbled, "Later, Brian. I'm watching the bowling."[tooltip]Herbert, senza alzare lo sguardo, borbottò: "Dopo, Brian. Sto guardando il bowling."[/tooltip]
Brian rolled his eyes. "You always say 'later'!"[tooltip]Brian alzò gli occhi al cielo. "Dici sempre 'dopo'!"[/tooltip]
Margot put her hands on her hips. "Brian, don't speak to your father like that. And Herbert, maybe you should interpret his request as a sign you need to be more active."[tooltip]Margot mise le mani sui fianchi. "Brian, non parlare a tuo padre in quel modo. E Herbert, forse dovresti interpretare la sua richiesta come un segno che devi essere più attivo."[/tooltip]
Herbert grumbled, "Active? I'm actively relaxing."[tooltip]Herbert brontolò: "Attivo? Mi sto attivamente rilassando."[/tooltip]
Brian scoffed. "Yeah, right."[tooltip]Brian rise beffardo. "Sì, certo."[/tooltip]
Suddenly, Molly started crying loudly from upstairs.[tooltip]Improvvisamente, Molly iniziò a piangere forte di sopra.[/tooltip]
Margot closed her eyes briefly. "That's it. I'm going to deal with Molly. Herbert, try not to incite any more anger before I get back."[tooltip]Margot chiuse brevemente gli occhi. "Basta. Vado ad occuparmi di Molly. Herbert, cerca di non suscitare altra rabbia prima che io torni."[/tooltip]
Margot hurried upstairs.[tooltip]Margot si affrettò di sopra.[/tooltip]
Herbert sighed. "What's with everyone?" He turned to Brian. "Fine, I'll take you to the skate park. But only if you help me unload the groceries later. And no complaining."[tooltip]Herbert sospirò. "Che succede a tutti?" Si voltò verso Brian. "Va bene, ti porterò allo skate park. Ma solo se mi aiuti a scaricare la spesa dopo. E niente lamentele."[/tooltip]
Brian grinned. "Deal! Let's go!"[tooltip]Brian sorrise. "Affare fatto! Andiamo!"[/tooltip]
Later, at Oakhaven Industries, Herbert was having lunch with his crew.[tooltip]Più tardi, alla Oakhaven Industries, Herbert stava pranzando con la sua squadra.[/tooltip]
"Hey Herb, you seem happier than usual" said Bob.[tooltip]"Ehi Herb, sembri più felice del solito" disse Bob.[/tooltip]
"Yeah, I managed to avoid most of Margot's chores today" Herbert replied while unwrapping a donut.[tooltip]"Sì, sono riuscito a evitare la maggior parte delle faccende di Margot oggi" rispose Herbert mentre scartava una ciambella.[/tooltip]
