Herbert sat on the couch, flipping through channels. "Another edition of 'Extreme Fishing'?" he grumbled. "When will they show something good?"

Margot entered, carrying Molly. "Herbert, please. Molly's trying to nap. And you promised to fix the garden fence."

Herbert sighed. "Later, Margot. I'm waiting for the innovation channel. They're showing self-folding laundry today."

Margot raised an eyebrow. "Self-folding laundry? Herbert, you'd believe anything. Besides, laundry folding is a family chore, regardless of gender."

Brian walked in, skateboard in hand. "Can I borrow the car, Dad? I need to pick up Sarah."

Herbert blinked. "Borrow the car? Brian, you don't even have a learner's permit! Don't be so dramatic, it's a ten-minute walk."

"But Dad! It's really, really far! I'll be late for the... the... youth group meeting," Brian said.

Herbert narrowed his eyes. "Youth group? Since when are you in youth group?"

Margot sighed. "Herbert, stop interrogating him. Brian, walk. And Herbert, fix the fence. I called a specialist about our leaky roof."

Herbert groaned. "A specialist? How much is that going to cost?"

Margot gave him a look. "Less than a new roof, Herbert. Now move."

Herbert reluctantly got up. "Fine, fine. But if that self-folding laundry thing comes on, someone better record it."
