Herbert sat at the kitchen table, a half-eaten donut in his hand. Margot was watering her plants.

Herbert sighed. "I'm going to make a bet with Frank at work," he announced.

Margot looked up, raising an eyebrow. "Oh? And what is this bet about?"

"He says his tomatoes will win at the county fair. I say mine will."

Margot chuckled. "Herbert, your tomato crop is looking rather? plain this year."

"That's just his excuse. He's scared. He knows my secret fertilizer!"

Margot shook her head. "Herbert, Oakhaven is a rural area, but that doesn't mean everyone's a pushover. Frank knows his tomatoes."

Herbert scoffed. "He's just saying that. I?Tll win, you?Tll see. Then we'll have bragging rights *and* the blue ribbon!"

Margot smiled. "Alright, Herbert. Just don't get too carried away. And please, no more 'secret fertilizer' experiments in the house."

Later that week, Brian was searching for his skateboard. He found it in the garage, partially buried under a pile of gardening supplies.

"Dad!" Brian called out. "Why is my board under all this?"

Herbert peeked into the garage. "Ah, yes. That?Ts? uh? part of my tomato growing strategy."

Brian stared at his father, then at the skateboard. "Right. A rural? uh? enhancement device?"
