Herbert sat at the kitchen table, a half-eaten donut in his hand. Margot was across from him, meticulously reviewing a document.

"What's that you're reading, dear?" Herbert asked, crumbs falling onto his shirt. "Looks official."

"It's a contract, Herbert," Margot sighed. "Oakhaven Elementary needs someone to supervise the kids during lunch. It's only a few hours a week, but it will help us with the bills."

Herbert chuckled. "Supervising kids? Sounds like a military operation. Good luck with that! Brian alone is like a small army."

Margot ignored him, flipping to another page. "They mentioned needing someone with a certain�?� medium of patience. I think I qualify."

Later that day, Brian was trying to catch a squirrel in the park when Laura approached, saxophone case in hand.

"What are you doing?" she asked, unimpressed.

"Hunting!" Brian whispered dramatically. "Or, you know, trying to make friends. This is Steve, by the way" he added pointing to the squirrel.

Laura rolled her eyes. "Mom needs help with sorting the documents for her new job. She said to come and get you."

Brian groaned. "Ugh, more paperwork? Is she going to file them alphabetically?"

"Probably," Laura said. "She�?Ts very organized."

Back at home, Herbert was �?ohelping�?� Margot by taste-testing all the cookies she'd baked for the school bake sale. Margot glanced up at him, a knowing smile on her face.

"Thank you, Herbert, your help is�?� invaluable,"

"Anything for my family," Herbert mumbled around a mouthful of chocolate chip.
