Herbert sat at the kitchen table, a half-eaten donut in his hand. Margot was meticulously cleaning crumbs from the counter.[tooltip]Herbert era seduto al tavolo della cucina, con una ciambella mezza mangiata in mano. Margot stava pulendo meticolosamente le briciole dal bancone.[/tooltip]
Herbert sighed. "This whole mess with the Oakhaven town council? it's a constant headache."[tooltip]Herbert sospirò. "Tutto questo casino con il consiglio comunale di Oakhaven... è un grattacapo costante."[/tooltip]
Margot paused, wiping her hands. "You volunteered to be on the Safety Committee, Herbert. What did you expectation?"[tooltip]Margot si fermò, asciugandosi le mani. "Ti sei offerto volontario per far parte del Comitato per la sicurezza, Herbert. Cosa ti aspettavi (aspettativa)?"[/tooltip]
"Well, I didn't expect Mrs. Henderson to accuse me of stealing her prize-winning zucchini!" Herbert exclaimed, crumbs flying. "It's a matter of justice!"[tooltip]"Beh, non mi aspettavo che la signora Henderson mi accusasse di averle rubato la sua zucchina da premio!" esclamò Herbert, con le briciole che volavano. "È una questione di giustizia!"[/tooltip]
Margot rolled her eyes. "She didn't accuse you. She merely stated that her zucchini disappeared after you were seen admiring it at the farmer's market."[tooltip]Margot alzò gli occhi al cielo. "Non ti ha accusato. Ha semplicemente affermato che la sua zucchina è scomparsa dopo che sei stato visto ad ammirarla al mercato contadino."[/tooltip]
"Admiring is hardly a crime! I'm a safety inspector, not a zucchini thief! Besides," Herbert lowered his voice, "I think Bartholomew saw something. He was a witness."[tooltip]"Ammirare non è certo un crimine! Sono un ispettore della sicurezza, non un ladro di zucchine! Inoltre," Herbert abbassò la voce, "penso che Bartolomeo abbia visto qualcosa. Era un testimone."[/tooltip]
Margot frowned. "Bartholomew is a squirrel, Herbert. And even if he saw something, he can't testify."[tooltip]Margot si accigliò. "Bartolomeo è uno scoiattolo, Herbert. E anche se avesse visto qualcosa, non può testimoniare."[/tooltip]
Herbert groaned. "See? This is why nobody takes me seriously! It's always my blame. If I didn?Tt go to the farmer?Ts market none of this would?Tve happened."[tooltip]Herbert gemette. "Vedi? Ecco perché nessuno mi prende sul serio! È sempre colpa (colpa) mia. Se non fossi andato al mercato contadino, niente di tutto questo sarebbe successo."[/tooltip]
Margot patted his hand. "Just try to stay out of trouble, Herbert. And maybe buy Mrs. Henderson some flowers."[tooltip]Margot gli diede una pacca sulla mano. "Cerca solo di stare fuori dai guai, Herbert. E magari compra dei fiori alla signora Henderson."[/tooltip]
