Herbert slumped onto the sofa, remote in hand. "Margot, the TV remote�?Ts batteries seem to be losing power. It will soon decrease in its ability to work."

Margot, busy in the kitchen, replied, "Herbert, you need to demonstrate a little more energy yourself! I'm trying to make dinner."

Herbert sighed. "But there's a new show about competitive napping! I really wanted to watch that! It has the best of best"

Just then, Brian burst through the door, covered in mud. "Mom, can we adopt a stray kitten I found in the park? He's so small!"

Margot looked horrified. "Brian Walker! Look at you! And no, we are not adopting any kittens. We already have Molly to feed and care for!"

Herbert, seeing an opportunity to avoid helping with dinner, chimed in, "Hold on, Margot. Maybe if the kitten catches mice, our food bills will decrease. It's worth a try".

Margot glared at Herbert. "That is not how this works, Herbert. Besides, you still haven't fixed that leaky tap. I don't know how I am going to handle this struggle alone."

Brian tried to bring the kitten inside, it struggled against him. "But Mom, he needs us to feed him! He's so small and all alone. "

Margot sighed, the wariness was apparent in her voice. "Fine, bring him in. But Herbert, you are cleaning him up and taking care of him this evening."

Herbert�?Ts face fell. "But the napping competition...."

Margot gave Herbert a look that could curdle milk. "No buts, Herbert. Demonstrate some responsibility for once!"
