Herbert sat in his armchair. He sighed. "This last donut is calling my name," he said to himself.

Margot walked in. "Herbert, after you finish that donut, maybe you can help me with the garden?"

Herbert groaned. "The garden? It's such hard work! Can't Brian do it?"

Margot smiled. "Brian is at school. Besides, you ate the last of the donuts. Consider it payment."

Herbert looked at the donut. He took a big bite. "Okay, okay," he mumbled, "But just last week I did all the dishes!"
