Herbert sat at the kitchen table. He held a card.

Margot walked in. "What's that, Herbert?"

Herbert smiled. "It's a prize! I won!"

Margot looked at the card. "It says you need to guess the number of candies in the jar at the Corner Shop."

Herbert frowned. "Oh. Right."

"The shop's clock says it closes soon," Margot said. "You need to go now!"

Herbert sighed. He got up. "This is a silly prize."

At the Corner Shop, Brian was talking to Mrs. Gable.

"Did you see Mr. Walker�?Ts hair today?" asked Brian. "It was very messy!"

Mrs. Gable laughed. "He�?Ts always in a rush. The whole village knows it!"

Herbert walked in. He saw the candy jar. He tried to guess. It was very hard.

He looked at Brian. "Any ideas?"

Brian shrugged. "Just guess a big number!"

Herbert wrote a number on a piece of paper and gave it to Mrs. Gable.

"Good luck!" Brian said with a smile.
